For SS11 the Fulton ladies are on tour. Taking Joan Collins as their muse, they have decided on a cruise to escape the tedium of the city and stop off in the chicest resorts de jour en route. Naturally they must look their best at all times so an extensive wardrobe is required to accommodate the heat and hedonism of Monaco, Egypt, Brazil, Hollywood
Fancying themselves as latter day starlets a la Bardot, the look is rooted in 1960s cruise wear reworked for the modern woman; a sense of contemporary, relaxed luxury is key.
Effortless glamour is reflected in sharp silhouettes with signature decoration paired with statement accessories. Exotic skins such as python and pony-skin are new for this season with silks and raffia blended into contemporary shapes. Inspiration for print comes largely from the Memphis school-a strong mix of the graphic characterises this with symmetry and the irregular paired together in engineered print and embellishment. SS11 represents the perfect synthesis of crystal, print and embellishment; a testimony to the use of the trompe l'oeil and surface within modern fashion.
Laser cut wood, perspex and crystal merge with skins and studs to create a harder edge within the jewellery. Matching clutches and bags compliment the prints throughout to encapsulate a total Holly Fulton look for SS11.
