Prowling the pavements between after-hours gigs, skipping the queue and strutting straight backstage, Holly Fulton’s Autumn Winter 13 girl is quietly confident. Inspired by 70s art school rockers like the smokey eyed, guitar wielding Gaye Advert, and the flame haired vixen Poison Ivy, she gives the boys in the band a run for their money.
Taking seductive temptress Beatrice Dalle as muse, Holly has sliced and pasted signature geometric motifs across complex collaged leather bikers and voluminous photocopy skirts. Oversized fly posted big cats, angry bears and venomous snakes pop on billowing, printed satin organza, teamed with screen printed foiled T’s. Lipsticks like bullets frame neat dungaree dresses and repeat in regimented lines over slim fit shirts and leather trimmed boyfriend coats. Birds and lilies intertwined through prison fence, and inky beaded scrawl, channel the inner bad girl.
Punctured resin love tokens, sequinned feathers and embroidered ivory lilies embellish soft leathers, ruby red mohair and embossed jet black pony skin. Guinea feathers form complex tumbling block tableaux; spotty naturals manipulated to form sharp geometric pattern on dresses guaranteed to make you stand out at any groupies gathering. This season Jewellery combines unexpected materials, burnt black petrified wood and powder blue agate attach to jewel encrusted tops. Crosses of crystal pierced with blood red clusters of natural pearls appear both dark and dangerous.
